I am Laszlo, the owner of Retro Tour Budapest. During my travels, I always try to find unique ways to explore destinations, as traveling by jeep, sidecar, or rickshaw adds a special spice to the sights — quite different from sitting on a bus.
In 2016, I bought my first jeep since it could transport multiple passengers and these vehicles were a common sight on Budapest's streets during the communist era.
Currently I own 4 jeeps. Like elderly ladies with their particular ways — these old cars are quite grumpy and have definitely helped improve my creativity day by day. I love the sound of the rattling parts and the smell of gasoline—it gives an authentic experience and takes you back in time.
I strive to give my guests the same kind of memorable experiences I've enjoyed during my own travels abroad—whether gazing at the Grand Canyon, exploring China's Yellow River region, strolling along the Seine in Paris, or taking in the breathtaking Sicilian coast. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my guests depart with beaming smiles after their tour!
Come along on this journey with us.

The GAZ-69 is a Soviet 4×4 light off-road vehicle built for the Soviet Army by GAZ (Gorky Automobile Factory) from 1953. The UAZ 469 used the same chassis as the GAZ-69 but featured a new body. While initially restricted from public purchase, many of these vehicles were eventually sold as military surplus to private owners.
As Hungary was part of the Eastern Bloc, our military and police forces also used these vehicles. They seem to last forever - people still use them today in forests for collecting wood, visiting vineyards, and working around their households.
Preparing some of these 50+ year-old vehicles for our tours required a major transformation.
